Hello..I was the same as you and your family when this happened to us but my brother was taken to prison for 2 years and at first his ex was fine about it but then she just stopped all of us seeing my nephew ...we were heartbroken and so was my brother. anyway when he did eventually come out he went straight to his solicitor the same day and got the ball rolling. That was 2 years ago he has just got access now where he has him alone without people watching and assesing what kind of father he was in the corner. he was never violent to them and #went to prison for something completely different and nothing to do with anything like that. But sadly you have to go to court over and over and over again. They then get family mediation workers involved ect. it was worth it in the end but be prepared for a long wait and please try and stay calm throughout. That is however the childs mother doesnt want him to see the child... if she agrees then it could be much sooner and they do like it if you can cvome to a mutual agreement between the two of them. Does he have parental rights? which he will have to have applied for if they werent married at the time your niece was born...he will see her again but if the mother is refusing then he will be lucky to see her next xmas it takes a long long time. Its very frustrating and i wish you all the very best its tough but you will get a result. good luck

You'll have to stay positive and strong for your brother. You should also track down your sister in law and appeal to her sense of compassion.

She must still have some amount of concern for your brothers health, so ask her to just help out a little. Long term details can be worked out in a few weeks.

Good luck.
