The parks are getting older and many rides, such as the texas Cyclone are just being demolished. Many are too old to be moved and then be safe. It is less of a liability to parks to start from scratch with a new ride with new, safe parts.

If they are not destroyed, they are often sent to overseas parks. I worked at Busch Gardens Tampa, and I believe one was sold to a German park. Don't quote me on that, it was years ago.
