the local council decided to knock down most of the houses and buildings (but not your house/flat) in your street to make way for a supermarket?

Look forwards to the summer(HOW many builders with no tops on, muscles glistening in the sunshine, while you from your flat have a great view), and be glad I never have to walk miles to a shop again.

Hi,Savannah (nice name...)
I would convert the front lawn into a car park where, for a small fee,the shoppers' cars would be left in a secure place with the option of a car wash ( for a small fee).
20 cars a day, seven days a week- sounds cost effective to me!
Merry Christmas!

In the US, a person could take them to court. There is a big controversy in the US over municipalities using eminent domain proceedings to seize private homes just to turn it over to another private enterprise that would generate more tax dollars, i.e. expensive condos or a shopping center.

You should have been consulted about this - complain to your landlord/council and demand to be rehoused if you do not want to stay there

I'd be grateful. Always handy having a shop on your doorstep.

if the government can do as they please then move...but if they can't then i would hold out until they offered a good sum of money...usually those who want to develop will win eventually so you might as well get paid first....the longer you hold out,in theory, the more money you should get...
