Unfortanetly some schools suck and don't have a snow day even after like 2 feet! But some close when there is 1 inch. It all depends on the school!

What determines a snow day isn't how much snow falls. What determines a snow day is if the snow plows can keep the roads clear enough for the school busses to get to school. In some places where they arent as prepared for snow such as some cities in Texas, a snow day could be 1 inch of snow. In other places such as Park City, Utah there could be 3 feet of snow and not have a snowday.
