J.C. Laker of England has the record of taking maximum wickets in a Test Match.

He took 19 wickets for 90 runs in the 4th Test of Ashes series
played between England and Australia at Old Trafford, Manchester from 26th to 31st July, 1956

He tool 9 wickets from 16.4 overs conceding 37 runs in the first innings and 10 wickets from 51.2 overs, conceding 53 runs in the second innings.
