It might feel uncomfortable like its just not sitting correctly, but depending upon the manufacturer some print very small numbers or letters on the surface of the contact, near one edge that can only be read if the contact is "right side out". Hope this helps! I know it bites when they aren't in correctly!

it should be a nice bowl shape when you hold it up, if the ends curve a little outward, it's backwards. Also, most companies print a logo somewhere along the rim of the lense. Acuvue prints a AV along the rim. If it reads VA, then it's inside out.

it looks like a bowl when you hold it up to the light
and sometimes on the contact there's a 123 or ABC
looking from the bottom of the contact up

if they are in backwards they usually hurt & your eyes will water depending on what type you wear but acuvue has 123 if you hold it up to the light other wise if they have a dip on the top part when you hold them on your finger they are usually backwards

It will feel funny when you put them in. You'll automatically be able to tell after a few times.
