Like if I told you I had a miscarriage, you automatically go "You think that's bad? I just caught my daughter sniffing coke." Or something like that.

Just Wondering...♥

I'm a listener. I date girls(and boys), 95% of my social life is listening to them whine, even when I know I could tell them what real sadness is. lol♥

I'm impressed. Some of you were brave enough to admit it, some even without trying to justify themselves♥

You are human. Humans are not either all honest or all corrupt. They are a delicate balance of the two and at some points even the most honest would steal bread. You seem to be more upset that other students capitalized on the opportunity to cheat and you didn't. Most of my complex classes had take home tests. Because the principles and concepts that were being tested was using attainable information to apply them to a problem. You would do well to understand what is the purpose of the exercise before launching into it.

no I don't feel the need to counter someones misfortunes with that of my own. To be a good listener is to actually care about what these people are telling you not say oh they are just whining. You may feel your problems are worse but everything is different for everyone, and I would not feel the need to let loose with my problems when someone just may need a shoulder to cry on-which is not whining

My mind might do that as an automatic response, but the first thing I really try to do is make the other person feel comfort...everyone's problems are different, unique, and while it's natural to become selfish and defensive of one's own problems, we should be making others feel better before we focus on ourselves.

Actually, I don't, I hate people who do that. If I have some input that might help you, i.e. a good doctor's name or something, I might tell you about that, and possibly, if it's necessary, tell you about why I know about it. Otherwise, I'll sympathize, ask a question or two if it's warranted, and doesn't seem like being nosy. I hate nosy almost as much as I hate 'toppers'.

Not if it was something like that. Some things i might if they are like petty things but i would probably try and like concule you or somethingcause that would suckass. And a kid sniffing coke isn't that bad as long as they aren't like under 12 or something

No...
I just listen to them and try to talk to them and help them as much as I can. I don't think who has a worse life or any of that. I just listen.

I just listen and try to think of ways to make them see it from an optimistic point of view. But i try to avoid my problems or getting off topic.
