Wow, lots of negative answers. Perhaps I can provide a ray of hope.

Flying cars: Well my neighbor is building this. www.labicheaerospace.com
It still requires you to have a pilots license, but uses the existing FAA infrastructure, so it's not that far fetched. I'm helping when I can and this first full scale model should be done in 2007.

Atheletes. They will always improve. Exercise routines, learning the moves of other players, better medicine, all help make better players. It's only a matter of time.

Transfering objects. Well, you can buy products via the internet, but by "zapping" them, 20 years is a little soon. However, the study of Quantum Mechanics has shown that the data of an object can be transported to another set of atoms and recreate an exact copy of the original. It's a phenomenon known as Entanglement and will be used for lots of devices for our future. It will create quantum computers that can calculate at "really" fast speeds, change the way we communicate, and really bring humanity to a new level of understanding. While you can transport the state of atoms from one place to another, it's not likely to be used in this manner for big objects for a long time...if ever.

Will we exist? I'd like to think so. We certainly have lots of things that can hurt us. The largest concern would be a biological mishap (engineered virus getting lose). However, it's not likely that humanity will be wiped out in the next 20 years. Big catatrophes can take many lives and mass extinctions have occured in the past (so will likely happen in the future), but the more we learn I believe the better our chances of trying to protect and balance our world.

Dictatorship. As much as the current administration has set the tone of that, politics tends to swing back and forth like a pendulum. We are currently far-right conservative. So much so that moderates look like liberals. Our last elections show that most of the nation is getting pretty tired of how the conservatives have been running the country and have elected democrats to start the balance of power. I suspect that over the next few years we'll see some of the current administrations laws that were infringing on our civil liberties and foreign relations, those laws will be reversed and we'll get more balance.

Great question. Feel free to write me via my profile if you want to discuss things further.

I personally think the world is going to be a very scary place 20 years from now. Every growing generation just keeps getting worse and worse. I'm 17 years old and I think everything is absolutely ridiculous. Bush is an idiot. This country is shot to hell. My generation is so materialistic it's not even funny, and kids way younger than me are trying so hard to be Paris Hilton, and other rich celebrities. Global Warming is approaching. There are not going to be flying cars as there was in Back To The Future. That's so unrealistic to this time period. We are soon going to be the stupidest country if we keep all this crap up, I mean we already are the fattest country, not like this has anything to do with what you're asking, or maybe it does. This is just my opinion ..

First of all, we have the technology for "flying cars" it just is not practical. To figure what it will be like in 20 years, think back 20 years to the 80's. What were peoples perceptions of what now would be like now? If the US became a dictatorship that fast, the worlds economy would go into a huge depression.

computers would be greater stepped forward. The chip in a birthday card 60 years from now would be hundreds of thousands of time greater effective than the quickest supercomputers in the present day (as in accordance to Moore's regulation). The economic equipment? specific, why no longer. It follows a sort. we are in recession, so it will get greater suited as quickly as we repay our debt and end the 4 wars. the destiny would be a great place.. for the knowledgeable, besides. music won't substitute plenty. they're going to in all possibility make iPod chips to be implanted in our techniques so we are able to hearken to music every time and everywhere we'd like with yet a concept. vogue.. unlike how hollywood portrays it. yet clothing would be futuristic. it will in all possibility have some gizmos related to it.

well first cars will never fly for another 100 years or so we have because then drivers that already have liscense will need to go back and learn how to drivve flying and also we need to make floating stopsigns traffic lights and also lines. Next question im not sure. Next one no. next one still no. and finally that is a possibel beilief because the *** holes at the white house are stupid and are all about sex and power.
