A GPA is a measure of how well someone is doing in school. Grades A, B, C, and D earn grade points. A= 4 points, b= 3points, C= 2 points and a D earns 1 point. An F receives a 0.
Grade points are adde together and divided by the number of grades awarded. The result is a grade point average. For instance, one might have 4 A grades. Each receives 4 points. The points are added together to make 16 grade points in all, the divided by 4, the number of grades to come up with a GPA of 4, usually written as 4.0 and this is a perfect score. Now, suppose you recieve 3 A's and 1 C. The total grade points would be 14. If you divide by 4 you get a GPA of 3.5, still a good average.

GPA means Grade Point Average.

Here's how it works:

every semester, your school looks at your grades. They give you 4 points for every A, 3 points for every B, 2 points for every C, 1 point for every D, and 0 points for every F. After they add it up, they divide it by how many classes you're taking.

For Instance, say you have 2 A's, 4 B's, and 2 C's. 2 A's = 8 points, 4 B's = 12 points, and the 2 C's = 4 points. So 8 + 12 + 4 = 24. Then divide it by how many classes you have, which in this case would be 8. So 24 divided by 8 equals 3. So your GPA would be a 3.0

Got it?

Your GPA is computed by the grades you make. For example: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1 and an F=0.

If you have 5 classes and recieve ACDAB you haveto add the numbers together 4+2+1+4+3=14 Now divide by the number of classes. 14/5= 2.80 Meaning you have a 2.80 GPA which is a very high c overall grade.

GPA is your grade point average. its where you add up all your grades and divide them by however many grades you had. does that make sense? for instance if you have 3 grades say an 82, 91,and a 94 you add those three together and divide it by three because thats how many grades there are. get it? you need a grade point average to get in to college with out a good enough one you cant get in. so best keep up your studies in school! :)

GPA, like in school, between two semesters, they take whatever score you have from both and add em up and divide by two to get the grade point average..

It tells you what your average grade is throughout all years of school...it's mainly used as a way for colleges or employers to see generally how well you have done academically overall instead of looking at every single grade you've ever gotten individulally. Its also a way of figuring out where you stand as far as class rank.
