I'm still developing and I find lumps in my breasts... My doctor 2 years ago said it was OK. They go away after a couple of days but I don't know if this is normal. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Please tell me!!!

Oh, and don't say the whole: Don't ask peopel over the Inernet, ask your mom.

I don't have a mom so you can't say that. Or aunt. Or grandma

It is normal for your breasts to get "lumpy" around the time of your period. It's ok, it happens to all women. The most important thing is that you keep checking your breasts so you know what they feel like. The best time to check them is a week after your period. If you feel a hard lump, then get an appointment with your doctor right away. Hope this helps.

I had a problem that I believe is similar. My doctor diagnosed me with fibrocystic disease when I was 16. Despite the dauting name, it's not uncommon or abnormal and is fairly easily treated with an anti-inflammatory. Mine tend to feel worse if my breast gets hit on something, or right before my period. Sometimes stress triggers it, too. Naproxen is what my doc recommended, but I wouldn't take anything until you discuss it with your doctor first. If you haven't had a mammogram, you might look into that as well. The lumps probably are benign, but the peace of mind is priceless.
As for not having a mother, aunt, grandmother or other female mentor, I really believe you should look into finding one. I am currently pregnant and don't know what I'd do without my female support network. Try a church or community group. If you're still young, you could also try a Big Sister.

I do believe that this is normal while you are still growing. If you find that the lumps do not go away over a period of time, or if they grow in size, that is a good time to call the doctor.

I would say don't stress about it too much, but I understand your concern. When you have reached the point where you aren't growing anymore (usually age 16-18), you shouldn't have a problem with lumps anymore. If you do, go to the doc and they can make sure that you are A-OK.

I also highly suggest that you find a female mentor somehow.....church, school, neighborhood....someone that you can trust to talk to about stuff. I hate to see that you have to get your answers online, although we certainly don't mind giving you the advice you need. Good luck dear.

I wish I knew how old you are. I never had anything like that, but I'm also very paranoid about lumps. You should see your doctor again. Or go to plan parenthood and see if you can get an appointment for the nurse to check it out for you.
