1. On the Microsoft Windows Start menu, point to Control Panel.
2. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options and then click Regional and Language Options.
3. Click the Languages tab and then click Details under Text services and input languages.
4. Select the desired keyboard layout from the Default input language list and then click Apply.
5. If you want to be able to switch keyboard layouts by using the Language bar, click Language Bar under Preferences, and then select the Show the Language bar on the desktop check box.

It depends on which operating system you are using.

If you are using Mac OS X, you should see a little flag. It will be an American one at the moment. Click on it and change it to the UK.

If you're using Linux and have a gui such as KDE, then do the same thing - click the flag.

If you are using Microsoft Windows, then things get a bit more complicated! You will need to click the "start" button (down at the borrom left). From there, hunt around for settings, control panel and then languages. Now you'll have a windows with 3 tabs and multiple sections. Change all 4 or 5 of the little pull-down boxes to English (United Kingdom).
