Well I'm going to assume that you're young and naive... So here goes:

When my husband and I decided we wanted children of our own, we stopped birth-control and engaged in our routine sexual activities. Basically... every month a woman ovulates (releases an egg from the ovaries into the fallopian tubes) and sperm ejaculated from the male travels through the woman's cervix, uterus and up the fallopian tubes in search of the egg. First sperm that makes it there wins! The cells in the egg begin to multiply as is makes it's way down the fallopian tube and into the uterus where it attaches itself to the wall of the uterus. And then from there, the baby develops for 9-10 months (depends on how you count your months). After baby is fully developed, the woman goes through labor and baby either comes out of through the vagina or may be delivered through cesarian section.

Check out babycenter.com on the different stages of development... they have a lot of great info. It's where I've gone to learn most of what I know.
