I'm sick and tired of this patriotic, nationalistic and fascist crap. I stood through a memorial service today for a young Marine that was killed in Iraq back in April. During this memorial a number of people spoke about the guy and about his sacrifice for the country. How do you justify 'sacrificing' your life for a war which is not only illegal, but is being prosecuted to the extent where the only thing keeping us there is one man's power, and his ego. A recent Marine Corps intelligence report that was leaked said that the war in the al-Anbar province is unwinnable. It said that there was nothing we could do to win the hearts and minds, or the military operations in that area. So I wonder, why are we still there? Democracy is not forced upon people at gunpoint. It's the result of forward thinking individuals who take the initiative and risks to give their fellow countrymen a better way of life....

well, there is no right answer here.

Saddam was a mean dictator who killed many innocent civilians but he also kept some groups from fighting each other out right.

When someone is killed, its not the best time to debate whether he was killed for good cause or not.

If the US succeeds and manages to stabilitze Iraq, it will be a good cause. The price? Obviously very high.

The truth is that most Iraqi's were not even in Saddam's ruling group; his rule was forced by gun point.

"Democracy is not forced upon people at gunpoint. It's the result of forward thinking individuals who take the initiative and risks to give their fellow countrymen a better way of life...."

This was true in the past... I guess not anymore...

We're creating a whole new governmental system for other countries using the word "democracy" however technically.... how is democracy democracy if its forced... especially when we want to make sure that we have a large amount of governmental oversight and dictate to the elected officials that they need to do what we want?

precisely. it particularly is like Block Watch human beings coming exterior and tattling on all people who could dare play exterior on their block. The TOS are intentionally obscure so as that the Yahoo! workers can use discretion and get rid of questions that would obey the letter of the TOS yet no longer the reason. Frankly, something is a contravention in case you squint and tilt your head slightly. If maximum persons opt to be waiting to ask questions, yet purely some opt to be vigilante tattletales and the tattletales are triumphing, then it is not community moderation. it particularly is bullying. Yahoo! has in no way been antagonistic to bullying. i've got often asked for help with bullying, and that i've got seen my friends ask for help as properly. i've got even seen my very own friends bully others, regrettably. no rely what occurs, Yahoo! accepts (and for this reason condones) the bullying. EDIT: The reporting concern isn't purely an R&S phenomenon. it particularly is around the board. R&S is in all possibility the busiest classification, so it particularly is felt harder right here, however the newshounds are everywhere. they are focused in busy categories. you could nonetheless placed up stupid questions in low-use categories, yet there are greater violations everywhere. i've got been violated in all places.

I am ex-military and have stated repeatedly that had I been active or called up for this war, I would have taken a court martial instead of serving. I refuse to sell my soul and participate in murdering innocent ppl that didn't ask to be liberated, etc...

I true patriot stands up for what America really stands for but a true patriot also stands against actions that destroy what America stands for... this Iraqi War is just such a destructive act.

That Marine died for his country and you dare question his patriotism, and the patriotism of those honoring his death? The gall of some people...

The war is not illegal. They are crazy over there and they need to be controlled. If you hate the US, then leave.
