The US Government is keeping secrets in an effort to keep Uniited States Citizens ignorant. They are depending on us, as citizens to "trust them" to allow them to do their jobs. Everyone in the United States of America who is unhappy with the way our government is being run needs to take into consideration that the United States was created with the ideal that all people were take part to make it a more perfect union of people.

There are a large amount of reasons that en-right the gov to do so, first of all people who work in it understand the situation better and know what's best or sometimes don't know if telling everyone would help or is the right thing to do, what would you do if you knew you where going to die soon? probably waste your time enjoying yourself and in the end it might turn out that you weren't going to die,
this is an complex issue that doesn't have a good answer in all situation, it's as hard as answering if you where a chicken lover and someone asked you to eat a chicken or he kills another one, what would you do? the answer might be more circumstantial
(hope I didn't shadowed it even more)

The government wants to maintain its strength. To work we need its strength.
Supposing unfriendly aliens came in from another world, vastly ahead of us and beyond our comprehension. Suppose the aliens could use us as a food source, could boost our inventiveness by teaching us, could wipe us out fast if desired, wants to remain hidden underground, has hidden human beings, needs space to exist.
These aliens can use our government more directly than can use us.
Our government has to keep it a secret that these creatures could drink our blood. It it gets out , human beings won't trust the government, and expects protection from the government. The government will make no money if it does not keep some secrets. Our government itself is vulnerable.
Say the aliens want to continue using their good space underground, want to breed with earth people underground......not with marriage of equals but by keeping vats of this and that, and sharing with people only what they wish and as much as they wish so aliens always have the advantage.
People are not afraid of the government, not as much as they are afraid of aliens.
Can you trust aliens? No
Can you trust the government Well no, but if you can find out an answer to "to what extent" you may accomplish more than flatly having nothing to do with them for all time.
If the government opened up and told all, the gt. would have some explaining to do. It is as wise as the weakest link. The government is vulnerable itself.
How many children have been missing forever?
How many of us human beings have ever been down below, and lived past it and are on the surface?
How many of us would be considered crazy if we told the truth? Considered crazy by people just like us except that they have not interacted with aliens and know nothing about them..which is like fat dumb and happy; the rest of us are disturbed, and grateful to be only HALF frightened..
This is only a partial basic answer. Do any of us want full answers? Why do aliens keep vats of arms and legs underground? As long as we are not told, maybe we can erase the question.
What about agent orange? Do we really want to know?
Why have aliens managed to insert brain implants inside the head and brain of a number of human beings?Does the government know? Do we really want to find out? Is the government between them and us something of a protection to both?
