Im writing an essay on Native Son, by Richard Wright. I really want to write the essay about Biggers impulsivity, and how the result of his impulsivity often differs from when he thinks things through logically. I dont know where to start though. I want to look at both murder scenes as well as the fight with gus in the pool hall. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what good points to bring up? or what i can write? thank you

Sorry it's been a couple of years since I read the book but isn't the fact that as a Black man he felt like his situation was hopeless which lead to his impulsive actions? He had finally got a job but things were against him from the beginning. He felt he had to do whatever he could to survive.

Hope that helped. You just made me realize I need to reread the classics because my daughter will be entering middle school next year and she's going to have some questions. Not saying that you are in middle school, it's just that I originally had to read Native Son, Huck Finn and Grapes of Wrath in middle school but that was in the mid 80's. So I just want to get prepared.

The depth of the question indicates that you've read the book. That's a good thing.

I suggest you use Sparknotes

Not only do they have summaries of the book, although probably don't need them, but there are suggested essay topics. As well as questions with answers provided that might "spark" your interest (pun intended).

Good luck with your essay.
