I don't know about toy r us but target is getting a shipment every friday... they tend to sell in about six hours. they don't fly off the shelves like hot cakes, but they do sell out that same day.
You should try Targets or Costcos. Toys r Us tends to run out a lot quicker since it is the first place where a parent would look.

phone the store and ask. Thats the best bet. Most stores are getting them in bits and bats but they are selling as soon as they come in.

I dunno bout that but my brother got his from http://urlx.org/directtrack.com/aec4a . All you have to do is fill out the survey. All he had to do was enter in his email address. If you really want one you should check out the site and get one from there.
