Big rabbits eat a lot, but they tend to be more placid than smaller ones. (They also can be more dangerous if they're treated roughly.) Commercial breeds (Satin, New Zealand White, Californian) are easy to breed and have large litters.
Fuzzy rabbits like Angoras are bred to be easily handled, but grooming them is a constant chore, and they die easily if you have hot summers.
Little tiny rabbits tend to have small litters if you breed, and if it's a dwarf breed, birth is especially dangerous. They don't eat much, but they're easy for small children to manhandle and frighten.
The Dutch breed is small, but not dwarf, and they're attractive. Since they are judged heavily on color pattern, it's easy to find breeders willing to unload Dutches with nothing wrong with them but a marking in the wrong place.
Giant rabbits need special hutches to protect their feet, and, again, they eat a ton. But it's fun having a rabbit that's larger than many dogs.
Rabbits with a "racy" body type (tans, Belgian hares, English Spots, Rhinelanders, Checkered Giants) are beautiful, and tend to be more active and agile than other breeds. Active rabbits can be feisty rabbits, and their long legs are more easily broken.

That is totally up to you. You already have an idea in your mind of what you want. Yes, there are many different breeds of Rabbits and which ever one you choose will be the one you want.
Just ask yourself if you want a white one or black one, a small one or a large one, a short haired/long haired one, albino, why you want what you think you want? Look up the different breeds, go to feed stores, pet shops, breeders, watch the news paper.
Or perhaps you want to get a show rabbit.
I don't think that there is a "best kind" of rabbit, I think you already know what you want and should spend some time looking at all your options and you will find the best one once you have seen it.
Good luck, do your research.

It depends on a whole lot of things. Do you have a lot of time to groom? If not, get a short-haired or even a rex rabbit. If you don't have a huge amount of cash to spend on food or space to house the rabbit, a dwarf is the best option. If you have young children, I'd go for one of the larger breeds personally as they're harder for them to pick up so less likely to suffer injuries.
I have a soft spot for the larger breeds and have even had a couple of the so called giants. For the most part they're placid, loving and great to handle, especially the New Zealand whites.

That depends upon you. There are 45 breeds of rabbits in the US and most breeds have several varieties or colors. Go the the American Rabbit Breeders Association websit to check it out.

I'd recommend going to a local rabbit show around your area. The ARBA should list the shows in your area on its website.
