A race for the ages. The world's most legendary sprinter versus comicdom's fastest.

Jesse Owens is magically transportated into the DC universe. You decide, based on legend... what happens to him there, if anything...

Note and fyi: Flash was once transported to the Marvel Universe and lost his speed (no speedforce in the Marvel Universe)

Yes. Everyone's right. I know about the speedforce, speed of light, etc. The very easy and *literal* answer is Flash.

With no modifications to Jesse Owens, it isn't even a question. This question has more to do with image (and imagination). Based on the answers, I'm guessing that Owens would not be accepted nor translate well in any form other than as a historical footnote.

I'll leave this running for a day or two longer to see how goes. Thanks.

A truly inspirational question. I’m glad you asked this one, and I’m even gladder I saw it to be able to answer.

With all due respect to Wally (I’m going with the current Flash) he would not be so hot without the Speed Force. I think of the Speed force as something similar to the Captain Universe force from the Microverse in Marvel Comics, which inhabits individuals at the right place and the right time—not necessarily those who are worthy (like Thor’s hammer)—and endows them with the speed needed to save the day.

I think that the Speed force would abandon Wally and endow Jesse with such speed as even Wally West had never dreamed. If Wally were suddenly to lose the Speed force (and, apart from whatever activated metagene enables him to run at near sonic speeds as in the first issues of the new Flash, after Barry died), I just don’t think he’d be able to compete in Jesse Owens’ League. (Not to be confused with the Justice League.)

Don’t gt me wrong. I think that Wally has matured considerably in recent years. But I think that Jesse is still more worthy and noble, that he has what it takes to be not only a champion but a hero.

Well yea, I'm gonna have to go with Flash. Jay Garrick can still run at around 300 mph or something like that, even without the speed force. So it doesn't matter which universe they're competing in. It's kinda silly to have a real person and a guy who can run at the speed of light compete in a race. Flash could go to Paris and return with baguettes before Owen's feet had left the blocks.

Is Jesse Owens Still Alive

Doesn't matter which Flash your talking about: Barry Allen, Wally West, or Jay Garrick, they can all move at the speed of light!

And the last time I checked NO normal human being can move at the speed of light!

And don't even get me started on the Flash from the Kingdom Come storyline who is SO fast he is actually part of the Speed Force, so that he lives half in and half outside our dimension and in between the ticks of the micro-seconds of a normal clock.

I think Jesse Owens record was already beaten by either Carl Lewis, Moses (that Canadian runner), or Marion Jones. The Flash actually has lightning force mixed with chemicals on the inside of him. Gotta go with Flash.
