The American Civil War became what we call Total War in May of 1863. When U. S. Grant turned loose of his supply lines and crossed the Mississippi below Vicksburg. He had his army live off the land they did this until they got to the out skirts of Vicksburg in late May That campaign has also been equated also with the first example of blitzkrieg in that the Union Army hit where the Confeds were not expecting it and they were kept off balance. The Civilians were not allowed out of Vicksburg so that they would not be in danger.

Next Gen. Sherman after the Atlanta Campaign during the March to the Sea Burned mainly civilian homes and belongings along with crops to make sure that the south had to maintain the refugees thus putting more of a strain on Southern resources.

At Petersburg was the first large scale use of Trench warfare that went on just really to destroy the Southern Will to Fight. In fact if you look at the Pictures of Richmond taken after the war they look like photos of the ruins after WWII. If you have time look at pictures of Richmond and of London then mix them up and you will see what I'm Saying.

That is the quick answers for your questions I really suggest that you read some books on the Civil War or at least go to some of the great web site on the Civil War. I hope that you have a place to start.

I have found a couple of links for you that maybe will help.
The main thing you need to know is that the war was not just about slavery. It had more to do with a difference of opinion concering how much power the federal government should have vs state power.
Slavery becomes an issue because to abolish slavery left the Southern states in a state of economic turmoil. Because of slaves the Southern States were able to produce more. Produce more and you trade more. Trade more and you have a stable economy. To take that away crumbles the economy. The abolishment of slavery was to be handed down by federal law yet it hurt the individual states... the Southern States. So basically the Southern states felt as if they were getting screwed.
Anyway check out some of this links that have info and timelines.
Hope this helps.
On the last site check out the section that says" The Secession Crisis and Before"

lol.

Well, both sides were pretty closely matched. The North would not accept the South leaving and thus, the only way to win was to fight an all out war. Otherwise, the North would have lost.

Total war means your whole society is at war, which usually means that you have comparible strengths.

Iraq invasion was not total war because the US is so much bigger than Iraq. The Iraqi might have felt is was total war tho.

Sorry don't know how to make that into an essay. I guess you'd have to read some books about the amount of arms and how the war started.

You won't get your full essay here, mabye some ideas at best

Literaly, family's fought against each other. Father against son, and brother against brother. Also, the British became allies to the Confederacy and they weere going to try to blockage NY and otehr seaports of the US. That is a total war, and because the North was the Industrial side of the country they North had the upper hand. This may seem logical, but more Americans died in that war then any war the US has fought.

Try to get objective information on this. I have lived in the North and now I live in the South. You get 2 totally different points of view. It is almost surreal. The North villifies the South. The South villifies the North.

The best way is to goggle it and get some good reliable information.

You cannot be certain of whatever is sent to you. I did not mean to insinuate that you are dumb, just thought that in your panic you were not thinking clearly.
It would not hurt to read what you goggle and do some analysis on your own.
