This is part of my multi-questioned question thing. I'm considering getting both games. I have another question coming up about wherther or not one guitar controller works?

Guitar Hero 1 because it has a better song list. The second one has better graphics and a red guitar. Also, in the second one, one, when you play multiplayer, one can play lead and the other plays rythum. You can pick different characters on that one.I don't know why, but the first one is more fun. I would prefer the first one. But it's your choice.

Haha, excellent question.
Yes, you MUST buy both. Both are excellent games. Here's some guidelines if you can only afford one right now.
1. How good are you? If you can play hard/expert level, get #2. It's a MUCH more difficult game. I have learned to beat every song on expert now, but I've played LOTS of Bemani-style games (DDR). If you're new, get #1. it's better for learning.
2. Will just YOU play, or will you play with friends? If alone, buy #1. Friends always wanna play the newest version, so if there'll be an audience, get #2. Also, the co-op mode on #2 is alot better.
3. What type of music do you like? If you like older hits #1 is for you. #2 is alot more "cool" stuff. When I first started playing #2, I hated the music compared to #1. Now I prefer #2.
Look at a songlist for each game. Decide that way.

The NEW GH 2. Few reasons.
1) Practice mode. If you can't pass a song, you can always go to the practice and choose to play the song in either normal speed, slow, slower, or slowest.
2) Stats. You can check which section you screw up the most, how many notes you hit out of how many total, etc. In my opinion, the best thing there is!
3) Multiplayer. It's better. Now, one player can do guitar and the other one can do bass. Very fun!
4) Hitting notes is easier. The fast notes are easier to hit in #2 than #1. A LOT EASIER. Less frustration for you. :)
So in conclusion...Buy #2!

definitly guitar hero 1!!!! my dad has it and it plays so many better songs than the 2nd one! just my opinion
