I've been depressed for several years now & the doctor has me on antidepressants. I still get lonely. I stay that way. I can be in a room full of people & be lonely. Even if they are acquaintances. Doesn't matter. I haven't been able to shake the lonely feeling. I don't know why. I don't understand it & I HATE it. I'm married, been with my hubby 14 years, have 2 great kids, 2 wonderful cats....I love it all & I'm happy with my life. BUT still I'm LONELY. If anyone has an explanation for this that makes since or that would help, I'd love to hear it. Nobody understands unless they have been there. I wish you the best~ P.S. In reading most of the answers that you have gotten so far...these are people that have been alone before...not lonely. There's a big difference between the two.

I always feel lonely even in crowds. The odd thin is that I never feel truly alone because I have my angels and God with me and I'm never super lonely.
Maybe in my case, other words work better - misunderstood, horney, solo, ...

sometimes lonely comes around-I guess everyone has this sickness somehow,at a time in their life-Peace!

but yes, i sort of do right now, because im trying to figure out my friend, and he's very secretive, so he tries to hide his emotions.
