I don't support an amnesty either. Bush and the dems are both pro illegal immigration. We who voted for Bush have been sold a bad bill of goods.

The problem has existed, and been neglected, for so many years, it has become quite complicated. With millions of illegals birthing children, who are now US citizens, I don't think that enforcing the "existing" laws can solve the problem.
Are we to separate parents from children? Wouldn't the children become the un-intentional victims?
What I see happening is the rounding up of illegals "who are working, and who are not criminals", in the sense of not being felons or commiting crimes..
The criminal elements among illegals are no where to be found until they are picked up for a crime. These are the ones who are being released over and over again by our liberal justice system and commit new crimes, or murder.
I do think that a "guest worker program", with papers, is needed. That may bring into the open, those who are here to just work, and they would be freed from fear.
All others may be considered criminals.
Most countries have guest worker programs.

I don't support Bush, but I do support immigration reform. If the illegal immigrants have already made it this far, then there should be two steps that can be taken.
Step 1. If the illegal is showing that they want to be here, have acquired gainful employment and are a contributing member of society, then by all means, enter them in to the guest worker program and fast track them to citizenship.
Step 2. If the illegal is not contributing to society, ie - drug running, life of crime and such, then send them back where they came from. We have enough of our own citizens clogging up our prison system, we don't need the dregs of other country's societies banging at our doors.

I agree with your logics and if Bush has any guts at all he will veto that stupid bill. The bill also allows those illegals an open door to Social Security that could bankrupt the only thing that was ever passed and works. Hopefully the jerks that were voted into office this last election have more brains then the idiots that were voted out.

This issue has too many levels to just fix it one way or the other. The debate will continue for years to come. I think it's time to try something sensible and see if it works. Doing nothing isn't working.

why do you think that just because people support him in this war that they support him in everything he does? Most of the people I know that understand this war and support his ideas in that hate his stances on alot of other issues. This is one of the major ones. The dem congress is going to let him push through these ideas that most conservatives dont like. We are aloud line item veto in thought processes.
