You can check out the website www.familyfun.com for some but I will list some here for you as well. These I have done with my fiancees children and they had a blast.

1.Gumdrop tree: a styrofoam cone, can be found at any craft store, lots of gumdrops(dots or those spiced ones with the sugar on them), and toothpicks broken in half. All you do is take each half of a toothpick and poke it in the gumdrop and then the "tree". Keep doing this to cover the whole tree. At the top you can either add some gumdrops(yellow)for a star or any color then add a bow and then some small bows on the tree for some decorations. Yes, you do need a lot of gumdrops for this too.

2.Tissue paper snowmen, wreath, tree, present(whatever you choose): Cut out the shape of what xmas one you choose and then make sure to have a lot of tissue paper and elmers glue. Cut the tissue paper into squares about 1-2 inches in size. Then just cover the design with the tissue paper using a q-tip to hold it down some so it will stick(in the middle of the paper), allowing some to stick up. Keep doing this to cover the whole design. You will need some heavy paper like poster board or cardboard.

3. String up popcorn and cranberries and use it as garland on the tree or where ever you choose. You can really use whatever you choose to string up. Gumdrops though cause the needle and string to get very sticky but with this you can get creative.

Good luck and hope this was of some help. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

When my sisters kid was about 6 or 7, we used to take those pretty paper plates with the holiday pictures on, and he would glue a bow and sequins ect to the picture and glue ruffled lace all around the plate. Then either glue a magnet on the back or punch a hole in the top to put a string in to hang it. Also we would put potpourri in the paper cups. First glue a lacy paper doily to the bottom of the cup. Everyone loved them and the paper plates would get hung up as ornaments every year. Make sure the kids sign and date the backs of the plates.

Well Mel, my daughter who is 11 loves playing shopkeepers, we get nearly all the food and other items out of the cupboards and pretend to be a shop that sells just about everything. I found her this old adding machine that she uses for receipts and all my plastic cards for credit, and she pretends to scan the items. Another game she likes is waitressing she sets up the kitchen like a restaurant wears the black and white, dons an apron, I get dressed up and between us we prepare a three course meal, and I am the patron of her restaurant. Another good one is karoke nights just have a sing-a-long its fun, anyway I guess there are so many interesting and free things to do, this year though ,she is spending it with her dad in sydney, I will be lost this year but sometimes we all need a break from each other, i know its not forever and I am ok with it, happy holidays to you and all at sunrise love the show watch it every morning, my daughter loves it also beats cartoons.

Try decorating a wreath or making tree ornaments. For the wreath you can buy either a styrofoam one or one made of grapevines. Choose what you want to put on it (ornaments, false berries or leaves, ribbons, whatever). For ornaments, get a hot-glue gun and start gluing them all around the wreath, making sure to do it in a way that looks nice.

You can buy a pretty basket at a dollar store and fill it with ornaments sitting on tissue paper.

To make ornaments, buy styrofoam balls and paint them with acrylics; then decorate them further with gold braid, or sequins, glitter, whatever suits you.

Polymer clay (Fimo, Sculpey, etc.) is excellent for making things with kids. Be sure they wash thier hands well before and after, and you might want to pick up a book on polymer clay art for inspiration. Sclulpey is softer, takes less conditioning or kneading and is probably a better bet. You can buy this at most craft stores. Keep your projects fairly small and use glass pans or pieces of marble or granite tile to bake them on.

Have them assemble snowman kits to give as gifts. Place a scarf made from a remnant of fleece fabric, some black painted rocks, a carrot, and some black buttons( as well as anything else you can think of) in a lunch bag and cut out a piece of cardstock to staple over the top. On the cardstock, write Snowman kit....just add snow!

I suggest getting a craft kit together: Construction paper, clay, pipe cleaners, recycled cardbord, glue sticks, and glitter. Out of clay you can make ornaments, incense holders, and a picture holder. (For the picture holder, you put twisted pipe cleaners in molded clay and let dry.) Out of recycled cardboard you can cut frames or attach a magnet to the back and its great for the fridge!

I also found lots at www.nickjr.com and the recycling center!

Get some constriction paper and make a paper chain to put on your tree or make some ornaments with the construction paper. Most of my ornaments were made by my daughter when she was little. We make some every year and put the date on them.

Well, I was going to say bake sugar cookies with them and let them help. I always loved doing that with my grandmother. I guess they could color pictures that are Christmas themed and u can hang those up.
