...right before you drink it? Will something happen if you drink medicine out of a bottle that hasn't been shaken?

most probably, you won't get the desired result obtained when drinking medicine that is properly shook. Nothing will happen except that your illness wouldn't be cured.

You will either overdose or not get the medicine because it is settled at the bottom of the bottle. That is why you are suppose to shake it before you take it.

Don't drink directly out of the bottle, you might get germs in the bottle and contaminate it for the next dose.

The medication is to be shaken so that the medication will be as evenly distributed in the vehicle as possible. If you drink out of the bottle:
1: You are taking the chance of taking too little or too much
2: Without shaking the medication it will not be the correct strength and will take longer to take effect.
3: You risk a chance of overdose if the medication has codeine in the mixture. If it is Tussionex, it can be fatal.

yes the medicine will go to the bottom of the bottle,and become more concentrated ,

shaking the bootle helps to get the meds mixed together remember to do it next time
