look at the inside of your tail pipe, if it's black you are burning it. our 2001 regal, with the 3800 engine, started to use a quart in under 3,000 miles by 40,000 miles. after some run around by the dealer service dept. they told us that GM considers this to be "acceptable". in fact, GM considers it acceptable to use that much by 30,000 miles!!! and GM wonders why we are all buying foreign cars now!!! the car we replaced with the Buick didn't start to use oil until 95,000 miles and it used a thinner oil to boot!! our next car will be a Toyota! my bother in law didn't start to use a quart in his Toyota until 165,000 miles! sorry, got carried away.

You don't mention exactly how much oil you're losing - in pints or quarts, but you should not be losing an appreciable amount or there is likely a problem of some sort. You are probably burning the oil off, but at such a slow rate that you cannot actually see the associated white smoke. You might try an oil change interval with an Engine Sentry installed in your oil filter, and after that switch to a full synthetic with a longer interval. That could end the problem. Good luck!

If the oil is leaking somewhere but not anywhere visible, then I believe it probably has to be leaking into the engine or transmission which means it is also flowing through places it shouldn't be.
