I will try to make this short, came home today saw a note on my door (second note, first one I got 3 months or so ago) complaining about my dog (first note was same in natural) saying my dog barks etc, which he doesnt trust me. The note today actually said he was barking at 9am, he was with me hiking at that time so I know someone is messing with me. Now to my ?, what are my options in terms of my lease and the building I live. I have no clue who is leaving them altough I have a guess, but if this doesnt stop can I ask the building owner to void my lease since obvioulsy this isnt how I want to live. If I left early I would pay dearly for leaving before my lease is up. Thanks for any advise. Happy Holidays!!

Let your building manager know. Ask that the next time he sends the rent bill to all the tenants to include a note about harassment and that it is not tolerated. You shouldn't have to leave a place you like because someone is being a jerk.

You can certainly ask your landlord to void your lease, but unless they can relet the apartment for significantly more money they're not going to agree.

Getting notes like this is part of apartment living. You've gotten 2 in 3 months and they seem to be fairly civil so I don't know what the problem is.

Finally, while your dog certainly couldn't have been barking if he was out with you, how do you know he doesn't bark when you're not around? If that's the case your neighbor is probably fed up. He probably doesn't want to live like this either.

If this notice is coming from your landlord you'd know it. A landlord would not leave an anonymous note.

Just discard the notes and get on with your life. They have no legal status. If you don't have positive proof of who is leaving them, there's no sense in making a scene over it. (And if you do have proof, just send them along to the landlord and ask him or her to have the harrassment stopped.)

If your landlord has a problem with you, he or she will let you know. Trust that!
