I took cover off because the chain fell off the guide while sawing a branch. After reinstalling the chian and cover the chain will not move, I adjusted the tension to let the chain to about 3/8" loose, but still does not move. While putting it back together, I forced some areas of the chain into the grooves to get it to fit (maybe the chain was damged?). I've had it running in this condition, but it dose nothing. Any ideas to why this is occuring is welcome.
Machine: Husqvarna 350, 18" blade.

Mr. Knowitall is correct, with closer inspection, this is exactly what happened. I am buying a new chain and a spare! Thanks

Make sure the chain is on the drive sprocket correctly. You could be pinching the chain with the cover.Make sure the kick back mechanism is engaged. Will the chain turn when the cover is not on.

Could be the rails on your bar got pinched. If you had to 'force' the chain into the groove you have a problem and it is not safe to run the saw in this condition. More likely your chains drive-teeth got damaged when it fell off--you know, the ones that wouldn't slip back in? Take the chain off and carefully examine them. There will probably be burrs on the teeth that need to be filed flat before the chain will slide into the bar groove smoothly.
Oh, and there is the chain brake. The hand guard is a brake lever that will need to be pulled back towards you. I often forget this myself.

The bottom of the teeth jumped over the drive sprocket and damaged the drive teeth.

Go buy a new chain, or spend hours fileing them back down on the sides.

first without the bar or chain on the saw start it to see if the clutch is still working. the drive sprocket will turn, if it doesnt make sure the chain lock isn't engaged. if it still doesn't turn then you have a problem with the clutch. it it does turn then either you have pinched your bar or you have damaged the drive teeth on the chain
