You'd have to pay me a 6-figure salary to do nothing but make unsolicited calls and annoy the hell out of people.

First, seeing a job as being good or bad, better or worst is foolish to begin with.
What makes a job good or bad, starts and ends with your attitude.
As far as the unsolicited calls, most calls we get are unsolicited anyways, even if it is from your mother.
When we look at the annoying the hell out of people, well I do have to admit there are some pretty sucky telemarketers out there and probably if you would ask them they have the same attitude towards telemarketing as you do and that is why they annoy you so much.
A professional would never annoy you, unless it will be by realizing many professional cold callers make 6-figures a year

Telemarketing is a horrible job. But it's better than not working at all. Just think about all the times they get cussed out over the phone. :)

You know how the saying goes, Its a dirty job but someone has to do it. When you get another call just say "TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST" By law they cannot call you again, or risk the chance of being sued.

That is pretty crappy for a job, I think I would lose my mind. There is worse though. Think about the people that have to get up roadkill and animal crap, yea, lol.

HOw about the guy who empties septic tanks? I think I'd rather call people and get told to eat sh!! rather than have to smell and touch sh!! all day.

it used to be door-to-door selling vacuum cleaners or encyclopedia's, but i guess those are obsolete,
actually i'd rather clean toilets than be a telemarketer
