Both claim to give a natural "white" light. The GE's are kind of purple while the Sylvania's are blue.

Is one better than the other? I need 2 60 watters.

Thanks.

I use the GE Reveal lightbulbs at my house. I think they provide a relatively glare free light and I use them in desk and reading lamps. For my money, they last as long as any other common lightbulb.

Good luck with your choice.

Ge Reveal Bulbs

Karen has already given you a good and thorough answer. However, I just want to add that in the house I recently bought, the previous owner installed 100 watt bulbs in a fixture that was rated for 60 watt bulbs. The result was a scorched ceiling and the wire insulation was fried to a crisp. I estimate the home was overdue for an electrical fire. When a lamp fixture is rated for a certain wattage it means it can handle as much heat safely as the rating suggests. When installing (for example) a ceiling fixture that has insulation in it, never remove that insulation because it protects from heat transfer to the ceiling itself. Exceeding the fixture rating becomes a fire hazard, one you don't need. So when considering the wattage a bulb uses - NEVER exceed the recommended wattage. It doesn't matter what type of bulb it is, a bulb that uses 25 watts will generate a certain amount of heat - regardless of the type of bulb. A 25 watt bulb will raise one cubic foot of air approximately 1 1/2 degrees per minute. If you ventilate that airspace you dissipate the heat. But if the air can not move - temperature goes up. The other alternative is to insulate against that warm air. But naturally the temperature will be disbursed throughout the room. That's a big part of why we are moving away from energy wasting incandescent bulbs, that and our energy dependence. Imagine you spend money to cool a room AND you run lights that heat the room. Makes no sense, does it?! And if you wanted to use the lighting to heat a room, lamps are a very inefficient way to heat. Well, I hope my two cents worth adds to your experience and knowledge. Good luck. ")

I kinda like GE's products... but if Sylvania is on sale, I will go w/ that. I dont' think there's a world of difference either way.

I am not sure I like the white light yet.. we put it in our stairwell and its unique.. but seems cold. The warmth of the regular light which is on the yellow side seems right.
I use GE Reveal and they are just bright white... where are you seeing purple?
