Straw bed for babies? Never heard of one. However if you are referring to the Christmas story and baby Jesus who was laid in a MANGER with swaddling clothes, a manger was actually like a trough. It had hay in there because that is what the animals ate. There was no room in the inn (ancient motels) for Mary and Joseph, so they ended up in what we would think of as a barn.

I dont think there are straw beds for babies... atleast not since the 1600's.

Do you mean a basket made of weaved material? We have a Moses basket that runs in our family, if that's what you're referring to. It has handles and you can carry the baby around in it. I wouldn't recommend that, but that is what it was orginally used for back in the day.

it is called a manger. or if you are reffering to the ones used now they are called moses baskets.
