My problem is I am trying to convince my ex to move to Texas. She loves in Ca. She says she wants to wait until her granddaughter grows up. She says if I lived in Ca she'd move in with me. This can't happen because I just bought a house again and can't due to capital gains. We are both 57 years old. She can't bring the grandaughter because the son is divorced and the mother has visiting rights. How can I convince her. I never told her she'd be eligible for free medical and access to the military base and eligible a free college education if she chose to come to Tx. I don't want to bribe her. What do I do. You can't compete between a grandmother and an 8 year old. How do you convince a woman to do this? She did also say if there was no grandaughter she'd move in today.

Maybe talk about how you don't mind her granddaughter coming to visit for x amount of time every year and discuss how often she could go visit her. There is a strong blood tie there....you cannot break it but you can show your support which will make her love you more. Have you gotten to know her granddaughter? I would make that a #1 priority if you are serious about this relationship. Don't make her choose or you will lose.

Well the problem is she is using the granddaughter as an excuse. Find a nice gal in Texas and drop this one.

I had a couple of female relatives play that granddaughter card against their husbands and I always thought it was the stupiest thing to do.. they can't travel because of the grandddaughter.. or how could the granddaughter move on her like that. It was like
she was living for a kid who could careless if she existed or not.

Don't waste your time.. she is trying to string you along with that if the girl wasn't there she would move.. She has made her choice and you were not it.

If memory serves me correctly you can beat the capital gains tax after living in the house as your primary residence for two years. At the age of 57 you should know two years is not that long to wait. Look, if you truly love her and can't be without her, don't ask her to choose between you and her family so that you can enjoy a tax break. Put your house up for rent and then join her in CA.

At this factor, Stooge ol' chum, you want to coach her. after all, movements do talk a lot louder then words, no matter if the words are dripping in sweet love poetry. So get your butt available to work out the lass. coach her what you're made up of. good success. Oh, basically be careful what you devour, not some thing truly spiced otherwise she would imagine in yet in a unique way at the same time as the foul stench of chemical conflict hits her delicate nostril.

Bite the bullet and eat the capital gains! She will have the same privileges no matter where you live. Move to CA and enjoy her granddaughter with her!

You don't convince her. She has the right to stay where she is and quite frankly in MY opinion Texas has nothing to offer those of us from California. If you want a woman in Texas I suggest you find one there.

No one can come between a grandmother and the love she feels for her grand children. Just be patient, let her figure it out. If you push, she may back off for good. Best of luck to you both.
