They do because they aim there publication at a different audience to broadsheets. It is believed that people who buy and read the tabloids want big pictures and bright colours rather than pages of text with few images.

Tabloid readers want their news to be simple and uncomplicated, preferably without the need for much analysis or thought .Images are very powerful and can also be manipulated more easily .Tabloid readers may have a more restricted vocabulary than broadsheet readers, something which is worsening as text messaging and other mobile media degrade the language. Communication is therefore reduced and simplified; which makes life easy for governments as it is easier to con the public as the public haven't the tools to find out for themselves.
Education should foster the use of the widest range of information sources so that the real can be distinguished from the false.

I don't even call tabloids newspapers comics is more a better description . It seems tabloids are marketed for the working class male and those who like watching Jerry Springer which is sad as I'm from a working class background and have chosen to reject such tripe that includes turning of Jerry.

Simply because the broadsheets contain much more news, in-depth analysis, and special reports...
Whereas the red-top tabloids, show breasts, porn phone call ads, constant mobile phone ads, horse racing, football, and all the crappy gossip that many without a life absolutely love...

Because the average tabloid reader wants soundbyte news not indepth analysis. Effectively, illustrated headlines, boobs, tv gossip and the sport section.

the Bigger the Pictures the less words so less exercise for the readers as their mouths form each letter and each syllable as they struggle to form the words that accompany these large uninformative pictures of celebrities and silicone enhanced ladies

Because the so called journalists who work for them are illiterate former students from the universities of Britain, people who find it hard to spell their own names let alone write anything.

Because it sells more papers if you have pictures of naked ladies, rather than having to read an essay on them
