could just be stress from a new environment and you're probably feeding him different food than he was used to at the pound, and it sounds like he could use a little bit of encouragement to go outside (don't just let him out, walk him for exercise to help move the poop on its way.) but get him (and the cat) to a vet asap for a check-up. healthy pets are happy pets, and happy pets are best behaved!

I'd say both of your animals are probably under some form of stress and neither has recognized you as the alpha yet.
Your dog has only been home for two days, and he may not know where the lawn is or how to communicate with you that he wants to go outside. He really needs to get used to his environment, that's all part of the training process. It might take a few weeks.
I recommend making him sit at the door before you take him outside. That way he will associate the door to the outside as where he needs to be in order to go potty. If he goes in the house, bring him to his mess, show him (by putting his nose close to it), scold him, and then take him outside and let him be for a few minutes. Praise him when he comes in, maybe even give him a treat.
For the gas, you might want to take him to a vet for that. Chances are, you've got the wrong food for his breed. Changing dog food is really hard on a dog's digestive track, (and should always be eased into, instead of just a sudden, complete swap) and he's probably having some difficulty adjusting. Maybe call the pound and see what food he's used to... but I would take him to the vet, just in case.
Good luck!

Well his farting may very well be his diet. Try gradually switching him to another food. Some animals are more prone to gas than others just like humans.
Getting him to go outside can take some time and patience. If you have one of those doggy pads in the house that he has been using, take the pad outside and about every 15 to 30 minutes take him outside on a leash and guide him to the pad. After a while he will get the point that that is the potty.
Or you can try this.. every time he does the dirty deed in the house, take him to the doo doo and put his face in it and say NO!. in a stern voice. Then take him outside.
Positive reinforcement is the key. Every time he does it outside, get excited and reward him with love, or treats.
Or you could just start taking dumps outside in the yard and take him with you each time so he will get the point. LOL But your neighbors might not like that too much.

The gas could be from the type of food he is eating, and the potty issue, well,if he goes in your house....you have to pick up the poo and take it outside and show him where it is.Everytime he goes out he should know where...(you should keep putting it in the same spot). This may take a while but you must stick with it!

Crate training is the best for house breaking a dog. Buy you a crate and make him sleep in all night. Then first thing that morning take him straight outside. the first thing he'll do is go potty. This is a sure wayto break him. With the gas problem, that has to do with what your feeding him. You are probably feeding him can food or table scraps. That will always make them gassy. Regular dry dog food is great for eliminating gas. I feed my dogs beniful that is a healthy food for them. Good luck.

If all else fails in getting him house broke to go out, everytime he pees or poops in the house rub his nose in it; swat his butt with rolled up a rolled up newspaper and put him outside. It does really hurt but they hate the sound of it.
As far as passing gas farting could be the change in the food you are feeding him compared to what he has been eating. Need to check with Vet on that one. Call and ask what type of food they recommend.

Take the 'poo' he does in your house and place it in the grass. Watch him closely when he "potties' and "poos" and when he does them say the word "poo" or "potty" and he will eventually get the 'idea'. Also, putting a bell by the door helps. Every time you go outside with him, ring the bell and when he gets the concept, he will ring the bell, too!!! Be patient and consistant!!! It takes about 6 weeks!!! Good Luck!

As soon as he finishes eating, take him outside. It may sound boring and long, but you have to stay outside with him until he goes to the bathroom. As soon as he does you have to praise him like crazy, so he knows he just did a good thing. Make sure if you're disciplining him when he goes in the house, that he knows that he's in trouble because he went in the house. Make sure he sees what he did and knows that that is bad.
The farting is from his diet, and the fibre in it. Switch to a food that has less fibre in it.

Dogs get gas from people food and from canned commercial dog food (and some doggy treats).
your dog should eat ONLY kibble if he's otherwise healthy. (dry dog food)
Dogs rely on you to take them out on a regular schedule, since they cannot let themselves out, they have to have their bowel habits under control.
If they don't have a set time every day to go out and do their business, they won't develop bowel control according to your schedule. The key is to let him out on a regular schedule every day around the same time.
Having pets is a lot like having kids, if you don't have the time to teach them properly, then you should get help. Being a good mommy includes asking for help when you need it.

go to a trainer and take some lessons on training, it could be very difficult, to train a dog that may have been trained wrong. try to be consistent with your training, and try to fugue out his times that he needs to get out.
