I was recently injured SEVERLY while opening a BRAND name can of catfood!!! I have severed the tendons and nerves in my middle finger, and additionally sliced oped my ring finger. I have since discovered after an ER visit, and an Orthopedic follow up, my injuries are so severe I must under go extensive surgey to re-attatch the nerves and tendons.
**FYI~~ the can was unusually hard to open and quickly snapped,....when this occured!!
SO,....what would you do???

to CLARIFY: a small notch was just inside this can ,....no external signs of damage @ all!! Only inside the rim - inside the can!!! Before, I could even react at all the damage was done......now I have no feeling at all within this finger. I can't even bend it!! I'm typing with one hand, now!! Hand all splinted up........it sucks I can't even button my own pants!!!

what would i do?

well i'd go along with the surgery, taking the advice of the doctors.
I wouldn't pursue a legal case for the following reasons:

i) It is unlikely you would win against a large company
ii) Even if you did win, the compensation you win would be less than the legal fees you pay (so you WILL lose money even if you win the case)
iii) Stress of a long (and they do drag on) legal case like this is detramental to your recovery from surgery etc. So for the good of your health it's better not to pursue it

i dont think you can do anything as it was you at fault
