Industrial physics and Astronomy.

I think most of the agents have just been in the industry some years but in another relation. They have been actors, directors, sound people etc. and now have alot of contacts..
basically you need to know the industry in and out and be familiar with the decision makers. And the only way you get it is by working in the environment for a while.

As a former Talent Agent, I can tell you, agents start as assistants to Talent Agents and work their way "up the ladder."

Many people in the business trained as actors or musicians. One person I know is doing this now, and he did a major in "arts administration." Not many schools have this, and in his case I think he had to do it as a type of "special program."

What you need is training in both the performing arts and business.

A drama major. There are all kinds of leanings and classes you can take in that field.
