This light came on IMMEDIATELY after I had a custom stereo installed. Of course, the stereo guy said the ABS light has nothing to do with what he did. However, I have to go back because one of the speakers is already not working, so who knows.

Stereo installers are INFAMOUS for connecting to wires that they shouldn't have.
That said, and considering that it occurred IMMEDIATELY after the installation, it causes pause.
The computer runs a self-test of ALL sensors and components every time it is started, and at periodic intervals as you drive. The computer has run a self-test and found that there is a circuit that measurements are out of range.
The light is an indication that the ABS has been disabled, though the BRAKES themselves are unaffected.
When you get the speaker repaired, insist that they check the installation for errors.
If none are found, go to a reputable repair shop, or better the dealer, and ask for diagnostics for the indicator light.
If the cause is found to be in the stereo installation, give the installer one last chance to rectify his error and make a legitimate repair.
If he fails to do so, have someone else do it, and then send him the bill for the cost of repair.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas

The ABS warning light means a fault has been detected in the Anti-Lock Brake system. As long as this light is on the ABS feature will be de-activated although the regular mechanical braking system will still function normally.

Finding out what triggered the light requires having a scanner plugged into the vehicles OBD II scan port to have the fault code(s) pulled and a diagnosis done as necessary.

Checking your brake fluid is BTW, a waste of time as regards the ABS light. A low brake fluid level will trigger the regular brake warning light, not the ABS light.

Could the ABS light have been caused by the stereo install? I've seen much more unusual problems with such custom installs so who knows. Personally, I will never bother with aftermarket stereo's, alarms, remote starts, etc. Seen way too many problems from them.

Nope not the stereo guy if you can do it yourself take off both wheels block the other wheels put it in nuetral have someone pump the brakes hard as you pull the abs wire off and plug back in,it will reset your abs senser they are really made to last mostly the life of your car they rarely ever go bad just sometimes say you had to use them in an emergency and got on them very hard it will send a signal to the senser telling it it now needs to be checked. Thats all the dealer will do and charge you 200 bucks and sometimes they will even replace when theres no need they know what to do and why it came on thats how they keep there doors open in the shop.

At first I was gonna tell you that the ABS line was probably not functioning properly attached to your lower strut. After you said It happened immediately after the Installation, I'm convinced that the Installer crossed either two wires, or shorted something out In the electrical system of your car In total. Dont be fooled, that's probably just something you see, there may be other problems that you cant see like brake lights, reverse lights etc. I would have the tech just go over everything, but before you get Into depth.. Check your fuses. Good luck, Botts..

If it was a reputable shop, they disconneted the battery durring instalation of the stereo.

When they reconnected the battery, your computer went thru it's base diagnostics and found a problem that is probably not related.

You may want to disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple minutes to clear the code, then see if it re-appears.

If the light comes back on, then consider having you brakes checked.

ADDED:

Here's a thought. Do what we used to do in the millitary. It's called a "four point brake test".

Get going about 40mph and slam on the brakes.
If one of the sensors are bad, that wheel will lock up and leave a skid mark on the pavement. Have that one checked out.

By the way, make sure there are no cops are around, and no one is behind you.

ABS-Anti Lock Brakes...First check in you owners manual for reasons the ABS light is on. It will most likely say to check your brake fluid level and see that it's full, check the wear on your brake pads and see if they are worn down and finally if neither of these are the culprit take it to the garage. Your stereo installer didn't do anything to the ABS system. That's like accusing the guy who filled up the gas tank of causing the transmission to break.

Do the simple stuff first. Disconnect the car's battery for as long as you can. When you reconnect, the code should be gone, and the light should be out, if the error was just a temporary glitch. If it remains on, the abs system should be troubleshot. You're gonna need the shop manual for that, to, as each model is different.
