Use your hair dryer and a knife used to remove paint off glass looks something like a large razor. This way you won't burn, de-laminate, gouge, or scratch anything.

The oil with layers of rags & an iron will work, but depending on your countertop type, it may leave an oil stain. Test a piece of trim on the side. Is it the sticky, gluey sugar wax type, or is it a hard wax? If it's the sticky type, you could try goo gone (a citrus solvent), or you could freeze it with an ice pack & chip it off.

depending on what its made out of I would make sure its completely hardened and use a plastic utensil to scrape so as to not scrape your counter unless its tile then you can use anything that wont damage the tile finish

first get a mastercard or some thing like that, and initiate scraping lower than it, its truly efficient if its on textile, if its on a difficult floor the blow dryer will artwork stunning! good success
