A good friend got his Bachelor's in History a couple of years ago, and this semester acheived his credential to teach. So no more substitute teacher, he is now a full-fledged history teacher.
My question is, what to get him as a congrats gift.
I was thinking of a name plate, as he has mentioned it & doesn't have one.
What exactly would I put on it? " Mr. (first initial, last name ) " and that's it? or should I leave out the first initial and only last name? Also do I put his title, " History teacher " or leave it out?
Teachers out there, or friends and family of teachers, help me out with this please.
Also, throw at me any other ideas as a gift. Thanks in advance.

The book Don't Know Much About History is interesting, and it would be a fun thing to share with his classes.

I gave a friend an antique political campaign button....it only cost about $10 and he loved it....he teaches American History and Political Science. Another idea is to get him some campaign/propaganda/advertising posters to decorate his new classroom. Reprints aren't very expensive, and they look great in the classroom. Find out what time period he'll be teaching (or his favorite if he hasn't a job yet), and then go from there.

For the name plate I would put just his last name on it and leave out any other initials. I would also suggest a nice attach' case or soft briefcase as a gift since he is sure to have lots of work to bring back and forth! Hope this helps.

I think little bits of the Berlin Wall in a plastic box are inexpensive.

Buy him a beautiful globe or a great map. (if its small enough, have it framed)
