If it's an internal modem, than it will be mounted on the motherboard, like the sound card, etc. Look for a phone jack at the back of your pc. If there is one, then there's your modem there.
If it's an external one, then it will be plugged to the back of your pc, either using a usb cable or a serial cable.
Or if it's an ethernet modem then it will be plugged to an ethernet card which is also mounted on the motherboard, but it has a slightly bigger kind of phone jack.

The modem is usually located inside the tower, the thing that has the lights and where you insert the CD's and disc's.
There are also external modems, but you would have to have connected that via a USB connection or a plug in in the back of your tower (could be in the front of the tower too).

It might be in the back. The plug looks like a telephone jack. Some computers don't have a modem, but you can get one installed at any computer repair shop, or you can get an external modem that connects to your compter via a USB cable.

The modem can be located internally or externally. Usually dekstop computers do not come with modems built in, but they can be installed into a PCI, EISA slot or as a chip on the motherboard.

If it's a desktop, probably in the back where the expansion slots go.
If it's a laptop, could be on the sides or the back, you'll just have to look for the phone plug. If it's an expansion card, then it'll be where the PC cards go.

Uhm derr. Usually your modem is external(which means on the outside), bought from comcast (like mine) or somewhere else.

inside mosy of the time but they do make external ones also. just look at the back of the comp. and see where the phone line plugs in
