I'm 19 years old (turning 21 in April 2008), and I was going to go to Los Angeles with my friend today to get a fake California ID so I could get into clubs. I don't drink, so I wouldn't be using it to buy booze or go to clubs to drink, I would simply just use it because all my friends are 21 and I can never go clubbing with them, but do they scan the IDs or what? I heard if you get caught with a fake ID you just get kicked out and get it taken away but I also heard if there are police there you can get arrested. I live in California, so the rules might be differently in other states, but would I get arrested? I don't want to do anything stupid if it's really that serious or considered a federal felony, so if I find out I really can get arrested then I guess I'll just cancel my LA trip and wait another 16 months until I can legally go into the clubs. What do you think?

Having a fake I.D. is a crime- whether you use it to buy alcohol or not..

It's too much to worry about. You probably wouldn't even have fun clubbing because you would be worried about it.

I am pretty sure that you can get arrested or fined for it anywhere if you get caught.

Perhaps you could move to Brasil...I believe the legal drinking age there is 18 which means that you can probably get into clubs at that age as well.

I think you could still get blasted for that.

I live in Illinois, so I am not sure what the rules are where u live, but my cousin got busted with a fake when she was 18.

She was drinking at the time which resulted in a $250 underage drinking ticket, but she really got hammered for the fake ID with a $750 fine....doh.

I wouldn't try it, but it is up to you.

In the State of California you can be arrested and booked just for being in possession of a false/fake ID. Sorry!

Yes, I feel that you could get arrested, and this arrest might just haunt you for the rest of your life. Patience is the key, just wait until you're legal, then go party. Don't take a chance on a criminal record that will be permanent. Best of luck to you.

Why not just wait until you're of legal age,and more mature,so you can enjoy a night out without the stress of getting busted.Being young, you don't need a criminal record to screw up your future.A night at clubs isn't worth messin with your life.

having a fake id made is the wrong decision if you want to stay out of trouble.....
you could find yourself in a huge mess
just have somebody that looks a lot like you... hair/weight/etc, go get a new id made for themselves, saying they lost their old one.... use that one, its not a fake, but its still illegal
if you just want to do the right thing... stay out of clubs til you are old enough!

no, you wont get arrested and put in jail!
but the bouncers at the door just look at it...they dont scan or anything, so im sure you'll be safe!
there are 10 year old girls who look older, and they're gettin into clubs with fake ID's...so your ok!
Good Luck!

Merry Xmas!
