Check your dvd-rom manual to see if it can read dvd-rw. You also may want to get to the manufacturer website and download the newest firmware for your dvd player. Or try using a differnt brand. Try record videos on a dvd-r, Finalized it and try to see if your computer can read it. You can use Window media to play it.

My opinion would be that you should also have a DVD drive on your computer to play any DVD-* formatted movies on your computer directly. Possibly you only have a CD drive presently on your computer, which definitely does not read DVD's. I found that out myself the hard way, lol.

If you are going to be looking at a lot of movies on your computer, it probably would be a wise investment of installing a DVD drive. NOTE: As an added benefit, DVD's also are great for backups as it holds a lot more than on a CD.

Hope this helps.

sounds like you only have a cdrom drive on the computer.

If you do infact have a dvd player on your pc, update windows media player so that it has the latest codec for playing dvd's
