Having been born shortly after WW2, as a lad there was an abundance of these everywhere. And could always remember the local authorites used to employ teams to demolish them. What they used to do was build a large bonfire inside it, and just let it burn. The next day, the concrete strength had detiorated enough to be able to just smash it down with sledgehammers.
I very much doubt that this method would not be frowned on these days though, with environmental issues, and health and safety aspects. So alternatively, hire a Kango and annoy the neighbours for a while i`m afraid.

Why not make use of its properties and store things in it.
The roof is thick reinforced concrete and the walls are usually made of industrial brick which is extremely strong (and expensive).
If you want to get rid of it you will need kango hammers etc for the roof and then carefully remove each level of bricks and advertise them for sale.
Believe me its not an easy job.

The people opposite us have just knocked their one down.It took them about two years until they finally hired a big sit on kango type thing.The structure was so secure with wire running through it I would be more inclined to leave it and make it into a feature in the garden with climbing plants and run electric into it.I personally think they are beautiful structures and should be preserved,but of course necessity sometimes takes preference. Good Luck anyway.

No knowing where you live, you might want to reconsider getting rid of the shelter. Where we live they call those things tornado shelters.
