they told me to use only the microwave not the stove. I used the stove to make french fries and had a small grease fire. I burnt the frying pan, melted a few ceiling tiles, and scalded the cats hair off. What should I do? Will my parents notice? Should I run?

Next time bake the fries. It's better for you and you won't notice the difference. Also find something less dangerous to make, something with out scalding oil.
Another thing most stove's are 45", most ceilings are 8' (96inches). If your telling me a small fire is 4 foot 3inches of flame to just reach the ceiling, probably higher to start things on fire, that tells me you had the oil probably set as high as it would go, frozen fries dropped in the oil expanded cracked unbelievably and started everything on fire.
You have no idea what your doing and should not be using a stove w/o anyone there. Make a sandwich or just use the microwave next time.
Lastly,,,tell the truth, I doubt you can hide the evidence, how can parents fault a stupid kid for making an effort to get something to eat.

You have learned a lesson the hard way; by not listening to what your parents said, you have created a mess; yes, they are going to notice and they will be mad at the damage, worried they can't trust you in the future and relieved that you didn't injure yourself or burn the house down.

Having said that, should you run? Absolutely not; if you ever want a chance to be left unsupervised in the next 10 years the best thing to do is own up to what you have done, be willing to take your punishment and willing to do what is necessary to earn money to pay for the damages that have been done. After telling them this, tell them that you are growing up and want to be more reliable and responsible and all of your friends parents let them use the stove; wouldn't a better solution be teaching you how to properly operate it, the dangers and what to do in the event of a fire and have a fire extinguisher nearby?

Hmmm if I did that....and I was your mother....and I looked up...just to see that the ceiling tiles are melted...I would notice that you used the stove. Never in my life did my parents tell me not to use the stove but um...if you can replace the ceiling tiles more power to you...if not...your going to have to own up to your parents...View this as somthing to laugh over years from now with your parents around chirstmas time when you are married/dating. You all would get a good laugh

Hmm "will my parents notice"...... Do think a partially clad feline, modified ceiling tiles and a burnt frying pan are fairly difficult things to spot?

Could always remove plug in microwave, "flash it" over a 12v car battery to blow it, then replace fuse in plug.

"Microwave stopped working, so I had to use the stove - and had a small accident, but no real harm done"

You are in trouble young man!!! Why do kids always ignore their parents advice? :) They will notice. The best thing to do is tell them as soon as possible. You apparently managed to get the fire out before damage was to great, so that's a good point. When I was in school a guy in my class did the same thing only he wasn't able to get the fire out and his house burned down. Your parents will be grateful you are all right but they may not leave you alone again for awhile and they may make you pay to repair the house. :) Just don't lie, I hate it when my kids lie!!! Like I'm stupid and can't figure it out.... anyway, Good luck at least you are safe!

they will notice it. and no don't run. tell them about it before they notice... then tell them you are sorry and promise never to do it again. They will be pissed for a while, but they are your parents and they love you, they'll get over the frying pan and ceiling tiles. And oh yea, the cat should prolly see a vet.

I almost burned down my room by throwing a firework inside (yeah, i was that stupid) when i was 13. My parents grounded me for a month, but I can hardly even remember the punishment anymore, and it makes a good story. Just stick it out, and even if your parents get mad, it won't matter that much later.

Or blame it on the cat.

Parents don't get as mad about big stuff like this as you think they will because they can usually see that it could have been much worse. There's no way to hide this from them, especially if you melted ceiling tiles.

I think your old enough to use the stove....sometimes parents are drastic and excessive in watching out for our babies!

Tell the truth!!! Lying will make it worse and they will loose trust in you and the next time they go out of town you might have a babysitter!

HAVE FUN W/ YOUR FREEDOM....but don't get too wild!

You should admitt to them that happened. Because if they catch you then you are done for. Also they might forgive you and let you go or you should just face the punishment and never do that again. Or else wouldn't you feel guilty if you run away. Just say sorry and say that you are never going to do it again.
