braxon hicks are common from the second trimester on. So long as they are not progressive theres absolutely no concern.

Some woman have irritable sensitive uteruses, and they suffer more from the effects of braxon hicks than others.

Also, the severe pain of stretching tendons and ligaments is often confused for contractions. Especially round tendons, theyre a hot searing tight pinching pain all around the belly.

If she's concered she can go to the ER and they will hook her up to a monitor and be able to tell if its really contractions, or if just she hurting from her uterus growing.

No that is normal. Contractions start when a women is around 6 weeks along, they just dont feel them. It is normal to begin to feel them at around 18 weeks or so, sometimes earlier for some. I have been having contractions for a long time too. Since I was around 16 weeks, I get them pretty strong. This is my 4th baby. I had asked my doctor about it and she said normal. She should be having no more than 5 to 7 contractions a day spaced out. If she has more than 4 in an hour then she needs to tell her doctor immediatley. She needs to drink lots of water to be hydrated and that can help some of the contractions. Dont worry.

She should change doctors, that doesn't sound right. I have never, ever heard of such a thing, not THAT EARLY into her pregnancy, unless she has some kind of condition(s) or high risk pregnancy. Change doctors or at least get a second opinion other than here. Good luck Grandma to be!

If the contractions are Braxton Hicks, then yes it's normal. Her body is preparing for delievery. Some people, like me, never got them. Others get the 'pleasure' of experiencing them! If you're daughter is uncomfortable to the point where it is effecting her daily, I think you should always get a second opinion-can't hurt! Good luck!

Braxton Hicks contractions, it is fine. Unless you start spotting, some women do spot anyways, but the only thing you can do is call your doc, and explain to them what is going on.. They will want to see you, and they will tell you the same thing. You must make sure your life is not full of stress. Relax, be stress free if you can. Good luck

braxton hicks contractions usually start at about 20 weeks but can begin earlier than that.as long as theyre the fake contractions and she doesnt have more than 4 an hour then its perfectly normal.i have had them since i was about 4 mon pregnant as well and i just try to keep an eye on them.and i know they say b/h dont hurt but mine do.

I will tell her to get a second opinion. That does not seem right at all. Most doctors won't be offended that you want a second opinion. And if they are, then she should start looking for a new one.
