I'm thinking about taking a week or 2 vacation in Europe. I don't want to travel around, I just want to settle down at one same place and live the life of the place. I'm not a big party guy, I enjoy going out for drinks, sitting down at cafés and walking around. Any suggestions ? Anything but tourist traps ...

You don't say where you are coming from or what time of year.

I liked Torremolinos, in Southern Spain. This is right on the Meditteranean sea. Flights come to the city of Malaga , a short distance away. There are Kilometers of walkway along the beaches, lots of outdoor cafes and bars and is Very busy in the summer, But is very pleasant in the spring and fall.

Geographically, Kiev rests at the center of Europe and is a completely different earth but you can now it better if you start from with hotelbye . Kiev could be the capital of Ukraine and is the most lovely town of all post soviet countries. It is just a city of all you least expect. Kiev is a historical city where old meets new and east matches west. One of many things you will see in Kiev could be the St. Cyrill's Monastery. That monastery was totally off-the-beaten track. This little church is really as previous as time, relationship back once again to 12th century. Paintings of the famous Mikhail Vrubel get you in to a various world. And the fact the Monastery is far from the main tourist web sites in Kyiv will make the knowledge much more humbling and inspirational.

Vilnius, Krakow or Kiev. Depends when you're going. Krakow is pretty touristy in summer but they are all really cold in winter. Kiev is really pretty.
