I've never used the function before but my family is coming over today to bake holiday cookies. So I put the cycle on for three hours, locked it and went about my merry way of cleaning my house...

Now... will I need to wipe out the insides afterwards?

Yes, wipe it with a damp cloth to remove the ash.

My oven (Frigidaire) guide says not to keep the racks in the oven during self-clean or they may discolour. However, you can put the roasting pan in. Problem is, without the racks, the roasting pan rests on the element so I haven't done it.

Yeah, you'll need to wipe it down. It should just have ashes in there though. The self cleaning part actually heats up the oven a lot hotter than what's used for normal baking, so it'll actually burn everything (food particles) that are in the over.....thus the ashes. Best of luck to you......have a great day.

Yes. It usually takes longer than three hours however. At any rate you need to wipe the oven out.
