Here's the issue with outsourcing - we, as Americans, tend to believe in the power of the Free Market, and yet, we want to have our special treatment too.

Many people in the United States love and have wholly embraced the Capitalistic Society. The American Dream is rooted in Capitalism. The young boy or girl born to a poor family lifting him/herself up by the bootstraps to become the world's next multi-billionaire. That's the American Dream, and it cannot be done in a Socialist society like it can be done in a Capitalist society.

But the "downside" to having a free market, as we do, is that it is a company's duty to maximize profits. There is currently motion in Congress to increase the minimum wage to $7.25/hour. A large company (let's take Verizon as an example, because of the people I usually talk to on customer support) has the option of paying Americans $7.25 for every hour that they're working in the customer service call center, or they have the option of paying a young, educated East Indian $2.35 per hour to do the same job. A company that is concerned with profits will look at the $4.90 per hour difference and in less than a heartbeat know which will drive profits up.

These two models are at odds assuming we want to keep jobs in America. If we want to solve the issue, we have to go against one of these models: either we have to deny elements of the free market and force companies that serve the American public to keep jobs in America (thereby driving down their profits, their stock, and ultimately our Wall Street based economy), OR Americans have to be willing to work for less money (which consequently means they have less money to spend, and damages our economy).

Basically if we want to survive and prosper in today's global economy, we cannot "fight back against" it. Rather we must embrace it and figure out a way to make ourselves more valuable in the marketplace.

Yes we Americans should fight back against outsourcing. If we are not united in this it won't work though. Pretty soon there will not be any jobs left for Americans to work. These companies will do anything to save money, and screw over us Americans. There must be a movement and something to motivate people to not buy products from companies that outsource jobs. It is quite difficult to find products that are not made on foriegn soil. Also if people find it more convenient to buy truly American made products then I think they will boycot foriegn made things. I hope this helps you

Basically your asking how should we Americans fight against ourselves. Those American companies who desire to make more money by outsourcing their jobs is there decision. No one elses. If the government has the right to control how companies make money on even that level, thats too much control. You'd be forcing companies to only have the option of choosing expensive Americans to do jobs for them. Some other countries even do a better quality job depending on the business.

Don't use their services, and tell them why. When I left SBC DSL, I told them the reason was due to inadequate customer service.

If that's not an option, always request an American Call Center. I do this with MCI, always.

Complain about the level of service you receive from the outsourced areas. I do this with America West Airlines.

Stop going into Mal-wart to buy products. Those "lower prices" also means less jobs in the US.

Next buy from companies that use American workers (Toyota, Subaru, the rest of the Japanese car makers for example.) Don't buy from companies that fire Americans and "outsource" the work to communist China.

This will eventually work if enough of America gets p.o.ed enough and does it.

Tax breaks are given to American companies that outsource jobs.

People should contact their legislators and tell them it should stop. I understand that companies save money by outsourcing jobs but they shouldn't get tax breaks too.

keep your children in school and save your money. cause if this outsourcing is a problem for you now...it only means you were not so prepared to be hired for such companies. it is a reality that other countries have smarter college graduates in their countries than we do here. we, being busy with things such as garage door openers and 50 cent songs have a lacking in science and math compared to those third world countries who know life is meaningless without solid footing. teach your children right for the future so out sourcing doesn't happen forever.

"Outsource" you money to someone else. Or be prepared to work for the same pittance as people in third world countries. Join/form a union (oooooh dirty word in america) to organise strikes and boycotts against companies who use these techniques.

Boycotts are very effective tools and should be done when and where possible. Hit these companies with higher taxes to make up for what they don't pay. Close corporate loop holes. Hit them in their pocketbooks. of course, what do we do with our government agencies who are doing the same thing? If we stop paying taxes then they can't put all of us in jail but we'll bankrupt ourselves in the process. So, what then?

Refuse to buy products from those companies. Only buy American-made and American-produced products.
