Last month my car started acting strange. When I would try to start it, the dash and the radio would light up but the car wouldn't start. Iw ould try to turn it over a few times to no avail. Finally, on the third or fourth try, it would start. This continued for several days. I took it in and they said the alternater and the starter were fine but the battery was leaking acid. I got a new battery last week! Last night, the car started doing it again. I don't understand. Could there be a drain in the battery that is causing this? I have a car alarm that I disabled because the alarm part wasn't working. However, it still unlocks to car doors and has a light in the dash. Could this be the problem? I'm at a complete loss. I have no clue what it could be.

You alarm is not disabled, it was only "muted". If your alarm includes a ignition disable feature, It might be the cause.
The easier way to rule it out is to completely disconnect the alarm module from the car.
If that is not the cause, I would suspect of the ignition switch itself.

OK two things.
1. Don't always listen to a mechanic because they work on cars. Always get several opinions, you will save money and time with less a headache and will learn for yourself how things work. 2. It sounds like your problems are linked to your alarm. If you disabled It you shouldn't be able to open your doors with the alarm remote. Under your steering colum you should see the brain of the alarm. Dis-connect the wire harness from the brain and that will definitely dis-able the alarm. If none of the above, you may have a "Ground" problem with the cars electrical system. Good luck, Botts..

Very simple to solve, you have a parastic draw on the battey, if you have an amp meter hook it up in series with your negative battery cable and see how many mA you are drawing, if it is more than 25 mA then make sure you have all the doors shut and start pulling fuses to for say your radio, car alarm, etc.. until the mA draw goes down. This will isolate your problem to whatever is draining your battery.
