My friend bought two t-shirts for her friend, for Christmas. Her friend is kind of 'big' so she got her big t-shirts, but then she thought that if she gives them to her, she might be offended.

If she thinks she would be offended then get her a gift card from the place where you found the shirts and have her go pick her out some different shirts and she can go with her.

If she is that worried, go back and get a gift card to the shop where she bought the shirts. That way, the girl wont get offended.

I never buy clothes for people for THAT reason. Even if they are skinny, people are always upset they aren't a zero or they don't look like x movie star. Leave it to them and you will be much happier. So will they...

Well, if you bought them too small wouldn't she be embarrassed?
If you are that worried about it, take the shirts back and get her a CD or something that won't remind her of her weight problem. (Then again, maybe she needs to be reminded, and told to lose weight. Overweight people are subject to short lives. If you are really a friend, you need to tell her that.

Why should she be offended if the t shirt fits? I think it would be more embressing if she got the shirt and it was to small and think damn it why you know? because that is what I would have thought..since I am thicker

If I was her friend, I would be grateful that atleast my friend would have been practical and bought me something that would last long and worn. This is an excellent gift. Does it have any slogans on the T-shirts?

It will work out fine if your friend has a line waiting. Have her ready to say "Is that big enough to sleep in comfortably?"

Other lines to consider:

"Wow, you've lost weight fast! Getting your stomach stapled was worth the pain, no?"

"The saleswoman who tried them on looked to be your size"

"Ha, then I'm glad I didn't get the lacy thongs after all!"

No, if they fit, then everything's ok....Now, if they don't fit and are grossly too large, then maybe her friend has some thinking to do along the lines of: "Am I really that fat"? "Is that the way my mates see me"? This could be the catalyst to start looking after herself and eat well and maybe get some exercise.
If they are too small, then, oh dear.....That's just a wake-up call.

Depends on what messages the t-shirts are carrying I guess!
