What an excellently-couched question. Crisp, concise, as hard-hitting as a .357 Magnum. The questioners views are punched into the collective mental ether in such a way that potential antagonists possessed of lesser brains can only mumble into their mental and philosophic corsets. Rate it? Of course I have. Good to see some articularcy on this site.

Legalise prostitution - this way those offering services will be safer (whether male or female). Those partaking of the services will be known - all good so far. Kerb crawlers will be a thing of the past and that has to be good ......( I still wonder what this guy thought I was going to do with 4 bags of shopping and 2 alsation dogs when he stopped his car to ask ........ all I will say is that it was not to find the way to the parish church !!!).
On the other hand - designated buildings - 'not in my backyard' residentially - not in the mainstream 'shopping / clubland' area nor respectable hotel areas. There is already an overkill of lapdancing clubs - do we really need so many? I bet they would not extend their services either - not ethical you know. Rest assured it would not stop the 'underground special service brigade'.
In the end - not sure it would have the effect we would all hope it would.

i agree completely the only way we can stop some of the horrific things that happen to men women and maybe having brothels that are legal would not only mean that the clients are in a safe enviroment but the people who work there would benefit a lot more than they do now walking the streets not knowing who their next client could be. and i still cannot work out why it has never been legalized after all this country will stick tax on it so surely they being the money grabbers the politicians of this country appear to be they should see this as extra money in their pockets?

It sounds rather simplistic to me! I think the government and society as a whole needs to look at social problems more deeply. As a society we all need to take responsibility for the causes of poverty, lack of jobs, drug abuse, crime, etc. Most women are driven into prostitution because they have to not because they want to. Through the use of drugs or messed up lives. Perhaps we should be trying to prevent this from happening in the first place. The same goes for crime! As a society we no longer care about the greater good.

personally i think there's a very good argument for what your saying
these women would have a clean place to work, would have regular health check ups, and would be safer there, i once watched a programme called "madam Kitty's" and saw how it all worked, somewhere in USA where it was legal cant remember where exactly though, and they have a button they can press in there rooms in case the client get rough etc.
the only problem i could four see is the drugs issue as some are addicted to heavy drugs which makes them go in it in the first place but with the right help in the brothels to get clean, and regular drug tests this wouldn't be such a problem.

Even though it is politically incorrect to do so, I agree with your position. Women and men will sell themselves for money, and that is not going to stop, no matter what rules and enforcement are attempted, so why not legalize prostitution and be sure these people are getting the medical care and safety precautions that they need?
Prostitution will happen with or without government intervention, so I'd rather the government take care of people who have to make that awful choice. They're already doing something no one should have to do, so why make them suffer social stigma and disease on top of that?

If a man wants to spend his money that way, and a woman wants to earn her money that way, and they are both consenting adults, what business is if of anyone else's?
The way I see it, and probably the reason there are such strong sentiments against it, is that it cuts out the middleman, i.e. the movie theatres, concert promoters, restaurants, etc.
The way it is now, they guy spends $50 or $100 to take her to dinner, a show, generaly show her a good time, then gets sex afterwards. Why not just give her the $50 or $100, have sex, and let her find her own good time with the money?

Yes, Legalise it!! Cleaner and safer enviroments for the girls, safer for men using these services too! The government will benefit too as the girls, if it was all legal and above board would have to pay taxes on their earnings like everybody else! I cant see a problem with prostitution, if a girl wants to practice this line of WORK surely its her decision and should be able to do as she wishes!!

You are right. And I would like to ask: Why is prostitution considered more immoral then closing and investigations about corruption among government figures, in order to maintain "good relationship" with "democrat & progressive" Saudi Arabia?

Why not and tax it to death after wards.
The only problem is government doesn't like competition when it screws the populous.
